Sony VO-2610 - This is a top loading 3/4" recorder/player which I restored years ago. The restoration on this machine was mostly cosmetic. I received it in working condition but it needed cleaning up and replacement of small stuff like RCA jacks.

This is a photo of the machine well into the restoration proccess. There were still a couple of things I had to take care of at this point such as removing all the tape that had been stuck on the machine. Notice how clean the area around the knobs and buttons looks comparing to the photo below. This shows what can be acomplished with a few hours of work.
This is a photo I took of the machine during restoration. The round silver drum in the middle is the head drum and the round black object you see just above the buttons is the cooling fan for the motor underneath which provides movement to the capstan roller, head drum and reel spindles. This is accomplished by a series of belts and solenoids to distribute motion from the motor to the proper spindles and an electromagnetic speed brake which slows the head drum to its proper speed during playback and record.
